Who said the only time you can brainstorm date ideas was for Valentine’s Day?! While I just love celebrating love during the month of February, that shouldn’t be the only time you show love! It’s so fun to show my appreciation for my boyfriend by setting up fun (+affordable) date nights!
Because I am on the go nonstop during the week, sometimes on the weekends it’s just nice to have a date night in and not have to worry about going somewhere or making reservations. Also, being an introvert, I am so drained on Friday from working with people all week that nights in are my cup of tea. So besides sitting on the couch next to each other browsing your phones, what other fun at-home date ideas are there??
1. Cook a meal together
One of my favorite ways to spend quality time with Cory is to cook a meal together. When we’re both in the kitchen cooking up a storm, I feel we are actually hanging out rather than always having out phones on us. Whenever we are cooking a fancier (ish) meal, we always love to have some kind of appetizer on hand to snack on while cooking. Lately, we’ve really been huge fans of bread and olive oil + seasonings dip.
2. Fondue night
The place where Cory and I “made it official” was at the Melting Pot, so fondue has a special place in my heart. However, you can easily recreate the fondue scene in your own kitchen. There are so many easy recipes throughout the internet, but here is an easy list of food items that you can dip in fondue!
3. Breakfast in bed
What girl doesn’t LOVE breakfast in bed? Whip up something fun and easy in the kitchen and head back to bed to eat. Who cares if you’ve already been up for a while?! Take the time after breakfast to cuddle up for a little and talk about whatever your hearts desire. Some super easy (and slightly less messy) options include cinnamon rolls, quiche, or muffins. Then add a bowl of fruit on the side.
4. Living Room Picnic
Too cold to go outside for a picnic? Well, grab your picnic basket and head for the living room! What’s nice is if you forget something, the kitchen is steps away. Oh, but make sure your pets aren’t around to eat your food 😉
5. Make your own sundae buffet
Perfect. date. night. right. here. As an ice cream lover, I would be like a child on Christmas morning if I saw that my boyfriend had set up a sundae buffet for us. Loading #allthethings on top of my ice cream just makes for one happy girl!
6. At-home wine tasting
Here ya go, wine lovers! Doing a little at-home wine tasting can be the perfect way to taste-test different wines in your own house. Grab a variety of different types of wine and some hors d’oeuvres and you’ll be good to go. To keep things simple, you can easily make a cheese plate with some dried fruit and mixed nuts.
7. Themed dinner and movie night
I am allllll about a good themed night. Whether you already have the movie or it’s the first time you’ll both watch it, it’ll be perfect! So, whatever movie you pick, plan your meal around that. For instance, if you’re movie is based in Italy, make a homemade Italian dish! Or, if you watch Ratatouille, make that dish. 😉
8. Print your favorite pictures and create a scrapbook
Last year, Cory bought me and Instax printer and an Up-themed photo album. (how cute?!?) The thought of filling it up with our fave memories gets me so excited!! One of these nights, we plan to sit down and print all of our most fun times and fill up our little book. 🙂 It’ll be so fun to look back on everything we’ve done!!
9. A movie night that works for everyone
How many times have you and your significant other argued about what movie you guys would watch? All the time?? How ’bout you each hit up your nearest Target and both buy your picks!? Watch one right after another for a fun movie marathon! Just don’t start too late, or someone (probably me) might fall asleep 😉
10. Spa night
Okay okayyyyyy… so I know that Cory would SO not go for this one if I presented it as such. But you could make it a night of relaxing and giving each other massages. Granted your boyfriend isn’t as ticklish as Cory haha!
