Is it just me or do other college students see their schedules at the beginning of the semester and pray it goes by lightning-fast? Then, start panicking when there’s close to a month left of classes and they feel they haven’t learned anything.
Yep, that’s exactly where I’m at right now. Aside from several group projects and studying for exams, I am also about to reach the time where I need to begin looking and applying for jobs so I don’t become a broke post-grad (At least I can begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel–HELLO GRADUATION!) Don’t get me wrong here…I am far from complaining about my going to engineering school and the potential to help people’s lives in the medical device industry upon graduation.
This talk about stress is only to bring up the inevitable: stress acne. I swear, it’s a viscous cycle: your stress causes breakouts, which leads to more stress because you can’t possibly have time for this, which them results in more breakouts. Can’t a girl get a break?!
Whenever I reach this black hole of the semester, I always put in a little extra effort to maintain the health of my skin. While I do try to drink a decent amount of water, one of my main skin secrets is using face masks. With so many different types on the market, you are bound to find one that works perfectly for you. Because I am such a face mask fanatic, I wanted to share with you some of the best face masks for stress acne.
Prepping my skin
Before I use any face mask, I always want to make sure that it’s clean and massaged. I have been such a huge fan of Clarisonic for at least two years and it’s crazy how much it has benefited my skin! Before washing, I use my Simple cleansing oil to remove my makeup. This allows for a deeper cleaning. I love that my Clarisonic Mia 2 is perfect for getting rid of excess oil, but is also gentle enough on sensitive skin. And with such a busy schedule, you can also multi-task and wash with your Clarisonic in the shower.
The Deep Pore system also comes an invigorating cleanser and face mask. I like to use a face wash with Benzoyl Peroxide at night, but using the wash in the morning gives my skin a break from drying ingredients. I love the way it feels on my face too!
1. Formula 10.0.6
I actually learned about this mask from Eleventh Gorgeous on Youtube and have been in love with it! The citrus-y scent makes me feel a little calmer just by applying it. Whenever I have a stubborn breakout, I put dab a little on at night and there is a significant difference by the time I wake up!
2. Activated Charcoal
I really can’t say enough good things about activated charcoal. It is such a wonderful, natural way to clarify your skin. While it can be a little messy, I will mix about a teaspoon with a little water (enough to make a paste) and slather on my face. A little goes a long way!
3. Freeman Beauty Charcoal Sugar Polishing Mask
Yeah, another charcoal product! What I love about this mask is that on top of clarifying my skin, the sugar is great for exfoliating! When I rinse off the mask, I make sure to scrub my face a little for added benefits/ exfoliation.
Another thing I love about face masks is that they allow me to take a step back from everything I need to do and relax. Sometimes you just need a reason to hit pause! There are so so so many other face masks that make me happy, but these are definitely the best face masks for stress acne!
