Happy #makeupmonday, peeps! I’m so thrilled to be talking about the new Clarisonic makeup brush (aka Sonic Foundation Brush). I have been using a Clarisonic for close to 3 years now and am just as obsessed with it as I was day one. I’ll admit, when I saw that Clarisonic had come out with a makeup brush head (that you attach to your device) I was a little skeptical. I mean.. the other brush heads are meant to take off makeup…so wouldn’t this do the same?? Well, if ya wanna know how it works + my thoughts keep reading. 😉

While makeup is a fun part of my life, I wholeheartedly believe that you should have a good skincare routine before focusing on makeup. When you have a fab base, your makeup will just seem more flawless, amiright?! So you can imagine my glee (+ a little surprise) when Clarisonic combined both.

Background on the Clarisonic Makeup Brush
Let’s start off with a little intro, shall we?? The technology behind this makeup brush is that it generates over 18,000 micro-blends per minute, allowing you cover your face in foundation in under a minute. I’m a huge fan of the fact that the brush head is ant-microbial and the bristles are non porous so more foundation goes on your face and less on the brush. Ummm I’m down for not wasting product!
You can use this with any Clarisonic product. As for makeup products go, you can use it with any liquid foundation or bb/cc cream, concealer, and any liquid blush or bronzer.

How to Use
Before trying this makeup brush, I scoured online to find a tutorial for how to use it. Alas, I didn’t have much luck. Clarisonic did have a short 30 second vid to kind of show how to use the brush…but not much else to help. So, based on their introductory video, I dotted my whole face with my foundation and under-eye concealer. To blend, I set my clarisonic on the lowest setting, began with my under-eye concealer and worked outward. My strokes were very similar to how I clean my face–in circular motions, as I didn’t was straight brush marks.
This may just be because I’m a beginner, but I found that the first couple times I applied my makeup I needed more than the minute allotted. Not a make-or-break thing– I could easily turn the Clarisonic back on. I think after I use the Clarisonic makeup brush more and more regularly, I’ll be more efficient with applying my foundation.

Okay, so this is probs just me, but I think getting the Clarisonic makeup brush head onto my Mia 2 was slightly difficult. However, this is def not a deal-breaker.
When I first began blending, I noticed that if I only used straight strokes, brush marks would be very noticeable. I found that blending in a circular motion (like when you clean your face with the Clarisonic) allowed for a more airbrush finish. The Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation that I used in the video below is a heavier foundation, so I liked that the brush helped give it a more dewy/lighter finish. Looking cakey/having a heavy face is not something I aim for! If you are not familiar with Clarisonic brushes, then know that it stays on for a minute. Maybe it’s just because of my beginner status with this brush, but I found that it took slightly longer to apply my foundation than the original allotted minute. With some more practice, I’m sure I’ll get my full face on in less than a minute!
Overall, I think the concept of the Clarisonic makeup brush is awesome. I love that it allows me to get my face put on in such a short period of time. I am also really impressed that the bristles really don’t collect much (if any) product. The pics in this post are after about 2 or three uses!! When this guy needs to be replaced, I’ll without a doubt be purchasing another.
