Busy busy busy.
Um, guys? Where has this summer even gone?! I cannot believe that it’s already mid-July as I’m typing away at this blog post. I think that for me, this summer has been flying simply because I have essentially been working 2 jobs: an engineering co-op along with maintaining my blog and social media accounts.
Not complaining whatsoever about either though, because I truly love both and am grateful to have both experiences! HOWEVER, between balancing both jobs along with a personal life sleep tends to be put on the back burner at times (and I know Arianna Huffington would completely disapprove…). And what happens when I don’t get enough sleep??
Under-eye bags for days.
When I don’t get enough sleep at night, I typically wake up with under-eye bags and a little discoloration under my tired eyes. And because I want to look well-rested for the day, I have been concealing my under-eye bags with the method I am about to show you. Personally, when I don’t look as tired as I actually am, I start to not feel as tired and am ready to hit the ground running for the day.
Step 1: Exuviance Depuffing Eye Serum
Right after I wash my face in the morning, I will apply the Exuviance Depuffing Eye Serum. What’s oh so awesome about this product is that is has a micro-roller applicator that massaging your eye to stimulate circulation leading to reduction of under-eye bags. Caffeine not only works in that coffee or tea of yours, but having it in an under-eye serum like this one really helps invigorate the skin as well.
While I don’t have any signs of aging yet (only 22 here…), I am all about prevention so my older self will be happy with the way she still looks. This serum not only works to remove your tired bags now, but it also helps firm and strengthen the skin after continued use. Because I don’t have wrinkles or bags from aging, just the lack of sleep I put myself through, I can’t speak for how well it works on aged skin. I can say though that I do notice a reduction in my under-eye bags. Once I put concealer on, you can’t even tell that I barely had any sleep that night.
To use, all I do is click the end of the tube once and roll the product under and around my eyes. I usually don’t put it directly on my eyelids, but I will put a little under my eyebrow. This product does take a couple minutes to completely dry, so during this time I will finish my acne routine and moisturizer.
Step 2: BB Cream
As I have mentioned plenty times in the past month or so, I have been oh so in love with the Burt’s Bees BB Cream. I love the way it makes my skin look and glow–which sooo helps with making my skin look rested. Lately I have been using the Boots No. 7 face primer prior to applying this.
Step 3: Concealer
And here comes the most important step at hiding that horrific darkness under those poor little eyes. Two of my favorite products for concealing my under-eye bags are the Clinique Airbrush Concealer and the Bareminerals Stroke of Light concealer. I read about the Bareminerals concealer on Gal Meets Glam and because I love her oh so much, I decided to pick it up and have not regretted that purchase one bit!
I put concealer over my bb cream because since it’s a lighter shade it helps to brighten up the area a little more. Tip: Apply your concealer in a triangular shape under your eyes, not in a half-circle shape only on top of the bags themselves. This will really help blend the concealer into the bb cream as well as any other discoloration further down from the bags.Makeup Tip: Apply your under eye concealer in a triangle shape coming down onto your cheeks Click To Tweet
After I apply my concealer, I usually just blend it in with my clean ring finger rather than a beauty blender. I love my beauty blender sponge, but sometimes my finger is so much easier and faster to do in the morning on a tight schedule.
After blending everything together, I lightly coat everything with my Bareminerals Matte, which will ensure that I do get too oily throughout the day.
