If you have been reading Blissful Gal for at least the past couple months, you know how important skincare is to me. Taking care of my skin is essential because I always want a healthy and happy foundation prior to putting makeup on. During this time of putting more effort into my skincare routine, I have also been getting back into essential oils. For months, I have been diffusing them in my room to take in the wonderful aroma each scent gives off, but today I want to share a couple easy essential oil skincare recipes that I am loving!
Ever since this post with Nature’s Truth, I have been a huge fan of their line of essential oils. From diffusing the oils to adding some drops to my bath, I love finding new ways to incorporate these wonderful scents into my daily rituals. Nature’s Truth essential oils are great to add to DIY projects, beauty recipes, and diffuse through your home. So, to continue my skincare obsession, I am sharing a face mask recipe along with a body scrub!
Honey Tea Tree Mask
Honey is an ingredient that you might not have known is actually really good for your skin. Using raw honey adds so many antioxidants that can help your skin look more vibrant. Because honey is a natural antibacterial product, it is wonderful to use on your face to prevent acne, unclog pores, and moisturize your skin. Because Tea Tree oil is used for purifying, it is a great addition to this mask.
What you need:
- 1 tbsp honey (preferably organic)
- 2-3 drops of Nature’s Truth Tea Tree essential oil
1. Add honey to small bowl
2. Mix 2-3 drops of essential oil with honey
3. Apply to face and allow to sit for 15 to 20 minutes
4. Rinse with warm water
Whenever I do this mask, I don’t move around too much because unlike other masks, the honey doesn’t dry and harden. I typically only put enough on my face to lightly coat it. Applying too thick of a layer will increase the risk of it sliding down and off your face.
Peppermint Sugar Scrub
I have always had a thing for scrubs because they make any shower or bath feel like a luxurious experience. I always heard that you should exfoliate before shaving because it allows you to get a closer shave. When you use this sugar scrub prior to shaving, your leg hair is lifted away from your skin. The sugar in this scrub is awesome for exfoliating, while the coconut oil is perfect for moisturizing. The peppermint in the scrub makes me feel like I am at a spa!
What you need:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 coconut oil
- 15 to 20 drops of Nature’s Truth Peppermint Oil
- Small jars
1. Mix sugar and coconut oil in a bowl.
2. Add peppermint oil and mix well.
3. Put scrub into small mason jars.
In a cool, dry environment this scrub has a shelf life of about 2 months. I traced the lids on scrap booking paper to add a little more color to the jars (:
