I don’t know about you guys, but it feels like my life is constantly on the go during the summer. Not that I am complaining one bit…I love being outdoors hanging out with my friends and doing fun activities.
In June, Cory and I went fishing up on Lake Erie a couple times. We had wanted to go more, but the entire month of June was practically a monsoon. However, we did go to the Taylor swift concert in Cleveland, so I was beyond excited about that!! I also spent the entire month taking summer classes.
Once July hit, I spent the 4th with Cory and all of his friends. I began working part time and spent the rest of my day time blogging, because June really took a toll on the amount of posts that went live. Then, the next couple weekends were wedding related, as one of Cory’s best friends got married at the end of the month. It was so fun! I love the rustic Mason jar theme (I really don’t know how else to explain it, but you know what I mean).
I love weddings! Congratulations Ben and @kyliemusket 😊 #wedding A photo posted by Amanda Blakeman (Blissful Gal) (@blissful_amanda) on
I was just about to say, “Now here we are in August,” but clearly that went by way too fast too. I spent the last three weeks making arrangements for my Fall co-op rotation in Indiana. I was seriously so stressed and anxious during this time that it just seems like a blur.
With being on the go all the time comes the need to treat your body to some relaxation and peace and quiet. Finding easy ways to relax amidst a busy life can be difficult sometimes because we feel that our lives lack enough time to fit that in. However, if we know some easy ways to relax, then we can most definitely squeeze some more zen into our days (:
1. Read a book
I think one of the primary reasons I love to read books is because I can immerse myself into something completely unrelated to my life. Reading about something or someone else gives me a wonderful break from reality. I have seen so many great reviews about The Girl on the Train and plan on reading this next. I also love that it is on the New York Times Best Sellers List
This summer, I haven’t been reading too many books, which I am sad about, but since I have gotten more into blogging there are more blogs that I read on a daily basis…which is kinda the same thing.
I also have a couple motivational books with awesome stories and quotes. I love reading them too every once in a while to spark my creativity during a relaxation period.
2. Get a massage
I have only received one real massage in my life, by oh my, was it fantastic. While I was there, the masseuse told me that to maintain the health of our bodies, we should get a massage at least once a month. But what college girl has room for that in her budget?!
Getting a massage was so therapeutic, though. During the hour, I didn’t think of anything more than the muscles that were being worked. Doing something that was good for my body while also helping me clear my mind was so beneficial. I highly recommend getting one done!
3. Go get a mani/pedi
I love painting my nails as much as the next girl, but who doesn’t love when someone else does it for you?! And guys…I have seen some males getting all those gross calluses of their feet, so get yourself to the nail salon!
4. Take a bath
Soaking in a warm tub is great to ease some of the stress that builds up with a busy life. When I am in the bath, I also really enjoy taking the time to exfoliate my body with the Spongellé Anti-Cellulite Buffer. You can follow them on Instagram here I really like that it has soap built in so I can just scrub my body quickly (which is what any busy, working girl wants!)
I have always been really skeptical of “anti-cellulite” products, because I believe that unless you get medical treatment, nothing can really take away your cellulite. I really don’t believe this product will take away your cellulite, but it is an awesome body scrubber!
So, take a little time from your busy life and utilize these tips on easy ways to relax!
