As a college student, I know far too well what “penny pinching” means. Having to shell out thousands to pay for the rent on my apartment along with tuition doesn’t leave a lot of paper in my pocket for extra things I would like. So since I seriously love to shop, coupons and student discounts have become my best friends. After this blog post I hope they become yours too! Besides, who doesn’t want to save money??
I have compiled a list based on research and my own personal experience of some student discounts that you guys can definitely benefit from!
Best Buy student email program: All you have to do is register your student (.edu) email and they start sending you emails of deals that only college students can receive!! When I signed up, the email had deals for TVs, tablets, laptops, Keurig, etc… and the coupons are good for a month. I think it’s pretty cool if you’re in the market for some new technology.
Apple: Save up to $200 on a Macbook
Dell: Dell University offers deals for students
HP: Special HP Academy pricing
Chik-fil-A: Free drink with any purchase (I’m pretty bummed that I just found out about this because I LOVE Chik-fil-A and go frequently. What the heck.)
Chipotle: Free drink with any purchase (don’t know how true this is bc I asked my chipotle on my college campus and they said they didn’t do that…doesn’t hurt to ask)
Subway: 10% off your meal
Buffalo Wild Wings: 10% off your meal
Arby’s: 10% off meal
Charlotte Russe: 10% off
LOFT: 15% off
H&M: 15% off
The Limited: 15% off
studentrate.com : free to sign up through your Facebook account
UNiDAYS: free to sign up, but you need to confirm that you are indeed a student. Then you have access to coupon codes for many different retailers.
Entertainment and Travel:
Cinemark: list of participating theaters http://www.cinemark.com/discounts-student-discounts
STA Travel: I found this site to be pretty cool if you love to travel and are on a budget. Though not exclusive to students, they offer an International student discount card.
Amazon: They offer a free 6 month Prime trial when you sign up for the first time. Once this period is over, you can get 50% off the normal price of Prime.
Insurance: Some insurance companies will give student discounts for those with good grades. (I have State Farm and just send a transcript in every year and get 25% off!)
PS- If you already graduated and still have your ID it can still get you some discounts if all you have to do is show the card!!
Note: Please keep in mind that different franchises throughout the country offer different discounts, if at all. Like my Chipotle experience, some deals read about on the Internet may not be valid in your area. BUT it never hurts to ask! You will be surprised how many stores offer student discounts but don’t publicize them.
Come back next Wednesday when I’ll be sharing some awesome rewards//loyalty programs that EVERYONE can use!
Happy savings! (…or spending) (:
