Guys. I LOVE love (as if you didn’t know by reading my love story, outfit ideas for a date, or 30 cheap date ideas). Because of this, I am obsessed with Valentine’s day but I truly think you should celebrate love throughout the whole year. Showing someone you love them should not be allocated just for one day out of the year!
“But I’m single…”
Oh girl, love doesn’t mean just significant others! Take time to show your besties how much you love them and what they mean to you. Your best friends are there long before you even meet a guy, so you should definitely nurture those relationships too.
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to host a Match.com party with some of my closest friends to celebrate (and learn) about love. Getting the group together made me realize how much my friends mean to me and how having others to share life with is extremely important.
How to throw a celebratory love party:
1. Plan ahead
My friends are always so busy that it can be a struggle to plan a time for all of us to hang out. Even planning this party a month in advance still posed a scheduling conflict for a couple of our friends who sadly could not make it. I am a huge planner when I know something is coming up because you never know what road blocks you may come across.
Creating lists is something that keeps the planning process organized to a T. You always need lists for items you have bought, what you need to buy, and what you need to do for the event.
2. Grab the sushi
If you’re going to celebrate love, you absolutely cannot forget the sushi!
Did you know: When you order sushi on a first date, it increases your chances of a second date by 170%! Um, geez that’s crazy.
I’m a huge fan of sushi, so this fact is a great excuse for me to add it to any party! If you haven’t had sushi before, you should definitely look into some local restaurants to see if they have any discount sushi days. A restaurant near me has half off sushi Mondays, so it’s a great day to go and try new rolls! If you end up not liking it, you didn’t spend too much on it anyway!Ordering sushi on the 1st date increases second-date chances by 170% Click To Tweet
3. Make cute treats
Chocolate covered anything seems to be the kind of treats people flock to. For the party, Cory and I made white chocolate covered pretzels and coated them in red and pink sprinkles. They were super quick and easy to make! Party snacks don’t have to take you all day to make. As long as it looks appealing and made with ingredients that are tasty together, your friends will love it!
4. Don’t forget your friends’ favorite foods
Make sure you keep in mind that this isn’t just a party of 1. Make your friends happy by asking them what kinds of foods they are in the mood for and buy them! Before the party, I texted my peeps to make sure I had food that they would enjoy…which meant I bought loads of wings, pizza, chips, and salami with cream cheese (and if you haven’t tried that before, well…you’re missing out).
During the party, we had the opportunity to tune into the Singles in America livestream, that happened at The Rickey at Dream Midtown. There were so many great stats and topics discussed at the broadcast, which you can watch here. There were several items discussed that I didn’t know myself, so I wanted to relay some of the information along to you! These dating statistics were taken from the Match.com Singles in America study.
- Ordering a cocktail (not wine or beer) on a first date will increase the chance of a second date by 137%
- 60% of singles prefer the first date to be in the evening, while 22% prefer the afternoon
- 59% of men and women don’t expect to feel chemistry until the second date
- 27% of married people met online
- Sharing your food (like ordering 2 meals and splitting them) is better for increasing your chances of a second date
Check out the livestream replay for more information about dating! Even if you are in a relationship, you’re definitely going to learn something new.
