Being the multi-tasker that I am, it’s no surprise that I’m obsessed with podcasts and listen to them all the time. They make doing mundane tasks, like driving to work or school, so much easier! I personally think driving is a waste of time, but when I can learn something during my drive, I feel so accomplished. Not to mention, the time seems to go by way faster. I wrote a post over a year ago talking about my favorite podcasts, so I though it was time for an update!
It’s been over a month or so since I’ve listened to any kind of music on my phone because I find listening to podcasts so much more rewarding. From news reports to interviews, I always can take something away from these awesome podcasts for millennials.
The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast
The Skinny Confidential podcast is actually an extension of The Skinny Confidential blog. I hadn’t heard about the blog prior to listening to the podcast, but I’m so glad I found it last year! The hosts, Lauryn Evarts and Michael Bosstick are an insanely fun and dynamic couple to listen to, so no episode is ever boring.
Because Lauryn is a blogger and Michael is an entrepreneur, you get a lot of health/wellness and business tips in this podcast, but everything can be translated into skills for everyday. My favorite theme that appears in the podcast over and over is the encouragement to stay in your own lane. Whenever I am feeling doubtful of what I’m doing or start the comparison game, hearing this motivating podcast always turns me around.
The GaryVee Audio Experience and #AskGaryVee
Alright, with Gary you either love him or hate him. He’s very blunt and to the point about everything, but I really love his no BS attitude. To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t all that into this one when I downloaded it the first time. Because he’s so to-the-point, sometimes it sounds like he doesn’t care about his interviewees and pushes them through their questions, but he’s really just trying to engage and know more about where they are coming from.
While this podcast is centered around business and online influencers/marketing, I still see this one as a motivational podcast too. Gary was born in Belarus and immigrated to the US when he was little only to live in a studio apartment with 8 other family members. Despite not having a lot growing up, he worked his butt off and now owns Vayner Media. If you’re interested in anything business or online related, definitely try this one out.
With so much going on in politics these days, it never hurts to be informed. I think it’s so important for millennials to know what is going on in their government, regardless if they agree with who’s in office or not. I started listening to the NPR Politics podcast around the election to get a better understanding of what was going on. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with it.
The reason I love this politics podcast over any other news podcast is because it gives me the facts without much (if at all) bias. I really appreciate when I can get the facts about the latest issue and not have to waste time hearing people boost or boo our politicians. I just want the fact, ya know?
Listen Money Matters
Simply because every millennial needs to know more about #adulting. Any type of financial podcast should be on a “podcasts for millennials” list! Don’tcha agree?? From investing to saving money, this one really helps get you motivated to think big and use your money wisely. Since I didn’t major in anything business related, I know next to nothing about how to handle finances. These guys keep the boring stuff entertaining while still making every episode super informative.
I’m excited and bummed at the same time to share this one with ya. First, if you’re looking for something to listen to for about 14 hours straight, this podcast is for you. It’s about real life events and every episode is super suspenseful–dyou want to just keep listening!
Now for the sad part. This podcast hasn’t been updated in close to a year 🙁 . This is probably because these stories take forever to investigate and get all the interviews for. They are super in depth, so it’s understandable, but don’t be upset when you’re done with the episodes!
TED Radio Hour
TED talks are my jam, guys! If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m so into anything motivational. I love listening to stories about other people’s lives and learning from them. I also think that mindset plays a huge role in our abilities to succeed, and this podcast never falls short of that. With such a variety of topics covered on this podcast, not every one is for me, which is totally fine!
Forbes Under 30
This one is a pretty new podcast, but I can see a lot of potential with Forbes Under 30 for millennials. Sometimes we can get so down on ourselves and think that we are not meant to do something. However, this podcast could definitely change that. It’s set up to interview the latest and greatest people under 30 who have achieved some major successes. So, you should never be short of motivation and inspiration!
These are some of my top podcast picks that I think millennials should listen to! However, that absolutely does not mean that these are the only ones I listen to! From business to pop culture, you know I’m all about it 🙂
If you listen to podcasts, what are some of your recs for podcasts for millennials??
