If you were to ask me for just one reason why I love driving home almost every weekend, I could not do it. Between my family, boyfriend, friends, and dogs, there is just too much love to go around to choose just one reason I make the four hour trip on Friday evening, only to drive back Sunday afternoon.
But if you ask me what that best part of walking through the door is, I would hands down say the greeting I receive from my two Miniature Schnauzers, Amy and Holly. If you have a dog, then you probably already know how it goes when you arrive home. The amount of joy and excitement they have to see me just makes my heart melt! My dogs are serious criers! My sister even trained them to start howling for her when she comes home!
Ever since I was little, my family has always had a dog. When we bought Amy and Holly the day after Christmas while I was a freshman in high school, we decided we wanted two dogs instead of one so they could keep each other company during the day. People always make fun of the fact that my family has named our dogs “people” names. But that’s almost what they feel like! Our dogs are such a huge part of our lives that they are most definitely part of the family!
Two is better than one
Having a dog in the family was the best decision ever. Having two dogs was the best decision we could have made. Not only do they have each other, but it is also so fun to watch them interact. It is also amazing how they have completely different personalities. Amy (the black dog) is more of our “airhead” dog, who also would have fit very well with the name “Shadow” simply because if you are home, she is always your partner in crime. Holly (the grey dog) is so much more laid back and does her own thing…and runs away a heck of a lot less!
In honor of October being pet month, I am sharing why I love my dogs. It is amazing to me how they can sense my emotions! Whenever I am having a bad day, they nuzzle up next to me and cuddle until I feel better. With my anxiety lately (I posted an update of my current situation, here), they never fail to ease my emotions. And besides…how can their adorable faces not brighten up any gloomy day?! No matter what kind of day you are having, the presence of your dog will always make it ten times better.
Because my dogs are always there for me without any strings attached, I want to make sure their health is always on point. If my dogs were a larger breed, I would definitely feed them PEDIGREE® Adult Dry Dog Food. However, since they are not able to eat the adult dog food, I am donating the dog food to a friend who takes in homeless dogs. This way, I will be able to help out more dogs who need love, in celebration of Pet Month!
You can buy PEDIGREE® dog food at your nearest Sam’s Club. And I want to give a special thanks to my boyfriend, Cory, for carrying this giant bag of food because it was heavy! I am extremely excited to share that whenever a PEDIGREE® product is purchased from Sam’s Club during the entire month of October, the PEDIGREE® brand will donate a bowl of food to a dog in need.
Also to celebrate pet month, you can upload a picture of you and your dog to Instagram or Twitter and use the hashtag #LaterShelter for a chance to be featured on SamsClub.com. The PEDIGREE® brand will donate a bowl of food for every upload! So let’s post lots and lots of pictures of us and our doggy friends to feed those puppies in need! You can follow me on instagram in order to see my pictures of me and my dogs (:
